shutterstock_119353828Once upon a time Cribbs Causeway was the route the Romans took from Sea Mills to Gloucester. At least that is what we hear when historic tales get told. That was then, this is now. And now Cribbs Causeway is where you will find The Mall.

From Lakeside head north along the M5 until Junction 17. Follow the signs to The Mall. Here’s a hint about the size of The Mall. It has seven thousand free car parking spaces. That’s a lot of cars but then The Mall is a really big enclosed shopping centre that has been attracting shoppers and visitors since it opened in 1998..

If you’re planning a day of retail therapy and wonder what’s the best time to head to The Mall, it’s helpful to know this important fact. The Mall is open seven days a week. It’s even open on Bank Holiday Mondays.

While the individual retailers may have their own special opening times, The Mall itself is open weekdays from 9.30am to 9.00pm. Saturdays it is open from 9.00am to 8.00pm and Sundays from 11.00am to 5.00pm. On Bank Holiday Mondays, it is open 10.00am to 6.00pm.

As noted, there is plenty of parking space available but you don’t have to get there by car. The Mall caters to all sorts of transportation possibilities. For instance, The Mall has its own bus station near the John Lewis store and it connects with local and regional bus lines. The Bristol Parkway railway station is connected to The Mall by bus and taxi services. There is a dedicated taxi rank outside Boots.

Another delightful shopping experience is the coach party. Coaches come from all over the country to The Mall. They are so popular that there is a coach park for fifty coaches near Marks and Spencer.

One of the aspects of The Mall is the thoroughness of the experience it offers its visitors and this extends to accessibility. You can come by bicycle and The Mall is ready to make your shopping easy. There are cycle tracks and bike racks.

Speaking of accessibility, The Mall offers AccessAbility. This involves wheelchairs and scooters to make getting around The Mall easy for everyone. It is on the lower level of Car park K, next to the bus station.

The how and when of getting to the Mega Cribbs Causeway Mall have been covered but what about being in The Mall? What if you get a little peckish? Not only are there 135 stores, there are 15 different eating establishments. You can stop for a full meal or a simple tea at the shop of your choice. There’s a juice bar, several coffee shops, fast food restaurants — you want it, it’s there.

As well as the extensive shopping and noshables, there are special events such as Winter Wonderland which is open until January 11, 2015. The big feature here is the 1,000 square metre outdoor rink Santa’s Enchanted Ice Castle, and a Christmas train ride inside The Mall.
